Seoul was founded in the Three Kingdoms of Korea period. Seoul became South Korea's capital again in 1948. Today, Seoul is the home to 15 world heritage sites. The capital is known for it's technological innovation and futuristic vision for life. Seoulites are also known for their fashion, hosting Seoul Fashion Week. Just like the modernization of the traditional Korean Hanbok, Seoul is known to breathe new life into tradition.
Hallyu Wave
The Hallyu Wave began in the mid-1990s with South Korean media travelling overseas. After 2012's Gangam Style, Seoul's K-pop industry has boomed. Seoul's Tourism Ambassador's, BTS also have played a big role in the popularity of Korean Media. The Hallyu Wave is still going strong with K-dramas and movies, such as Squid Games and Train to Busan, becoming world-wide phenomenons.
Nightlife and Food
Seoul is famous for being a city that never sleeps. Late at night, the city is still full of life with people working, partying, and getting ready for the night life. Even at night, there's never a dull moment in Seoul. South Korea is famous for many foods and drinks. In Seoul, you can find resturants and cafes in every neigborhood.
